At the introduction of the World Wide Web, the principle owners of img saw tremendous potential for Maine business owners who had traditionally been at a disadvantage due to geographic location. In fact, the Web was so new that as we began our trek across Maine, it was not uncommon for business owners to reply: World, Wide, What?

In July of 1995, the Maine Resource Guide web site was launched. At the time, the site consisted of only 4 basic company sites seeking to market their products on the WWW. Today, the Maine Resource Guide is proud to house more than 350 Maine business web sites, providing the most comprehensive web site for Maine business on the Internet. And, each month, the Maine Resource Guide welcomes between 15 and 30 new Maine businesses to Maine's Home on the Internet ©.

August of 1996 saw the cooperative efforts of WABI-TV, Eastern & Central Maine’s most watched television network, and the Maine Resource Guide, Maine’s most accessed commercial web site, join together in a cooperative effort to promote Maine through the two mediums. WABI-TV web site (http://www.wabi-tv.com) is viewed by thousands of people each month who turn to it for their only source of statewide news online.

The next year offered humor on the Internet, as Tim Sample, Maine’s favorite regional humorist, came on board as a spokesperson for the Maine Resource Guide web site. Tim’s own site, http://timsample.com, has received tremendous response and he now markets his products to individuals and distributors throughout the world. Downeast humor is a trademark of Tim, and we at img are extremely proud to work closely with this Maine icon.

We’ve been busy in our first few years. Yet, we have plenty more work to do. As residents of Maine, we cherish everything Maine has to offer vacationers, business owners, and residents alike. We will always strive to bring online the best of Maine and to do what we can to convey the character of its people to all those who discover Maine via the Internet.
