The Aroostook Country region of Maine is vast. While
not very populated, it offers thousands of acreas
of hiking, lakes, streams and rivers for the outdoors
enthusiast. Also, snowmobiling is BIG in Aroostook
county. Come on up and enjoy "the other
Maine", as they like to say.

Caribou Area: |
|
Caribou Country Club:
The Club is located 2 miles north of Caribou High School
on Route 161 toward Ft. Kent. It offers a 9 hole golf
course and is open to the public. A full service restaurant
serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the summer
months is aviable. During the winter months, 10 miles
of groomed cross country ski trails are offered.

Caribou Historical Center:
Located 3 miles south of Caribou on Route 1. The Center
is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm, from
June 1 to August 31. Antiques, artifacts, photographs,
and historical papers are beautifully displayed and
preserved.

Fort Kent Area: |

Fort Kent Blockhouse:
Built in 1839, this structure was created to help protect
local timber interests during a bloodless border dispute
with Canada.

> Van
Buren: |
|
Acadian Historic Village:
Focused on the strong French-Arcadian history, this
village consists of sixteen reconstructed and relocated
buildings from the French Arcadian culture. It is located
5 miles west of the town on Route One.

> Island
Falls: |
|
Katahdin Valley:
Located southwest of Houlton. Recreational area home
to a variety of tourist-related facilities including
lakeside cabins, a condominium resort, fishing, golf,
snowmobiling and skiing facilities.

> Presque
Isle Area: |
|
Aroostook State Park:
Located near Presque Isle, this park offers camping,
swimming, and hiking and is home to the annual Northern
Maine Fair in August.
