York Historical Society
Join us for an intimate view of three centuries of life
in a distinctive coastal Maine Village. Discover our
rich architectural, cultural, and maritime heritage
as you experience tours of historic buildings located
in the center of York and along the riverfront where
the town was founded in the 1650s

Tate House Museum:
A large and elegant dwelling, Tate House was built in
1755 for Captain George Tate (1700 - 1794) and his family.
Tate arrived in the colonies around 1750 to act as Senior
Mast Agent for the British Royal Navy.

Pejepscot Museum:
Maintained by the Pejepscot Historical Society, this
museum is open weekdays 9am - 4:30pm. Summer hours include
Saturday 1-4pm.
