Due to the very shape of the region, the Kennebec-Moose River Valleys area has one of the widest range of attractions in the state. Encompassing both the Urban and the rural (from the very capital of the state, to the near uninhabited northern stretches), this region has it all.

> Waterville-Winslow Area:


Waterville-Winslow Two Cent Bridge:
Literally a "swinging bridge", this bridge connects the two communities.

Fort Halifax (1754):
Erected on the steep bank of the Sebasticook River, it was an outpost in a series of defenses built along the river during the French and Indian wars. Benedict Arnold's 1775 expedition to Quebec stopped here on its way up the Kennebec River.

> The Forks:


Moxie Falls:
Maine's largest waterfall. Located 2 miles east of The Forks, Maine.

> Augusta Area:


The Blain House:
The Govenor's Mansion, located across the street from the State Capital. Regular tours are available and can be scheduled for groups.

Old Fort Western:
Oldest surviving wooden fort in New England.

Capital Building:
Get some information. Granite came from Maine.

Fairfield History House:
1900 Queen Anne Victorian house and barn filled with victorian furniture and artifacts, school, barber shop, farm equipment. Call for information on events. Open Tuesday. Summer 9:00 am - 12:00 noon. Winter 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Admission by donation.

> Skowhegan:

Margaret Chase Smith Library Center:
Gallery of historic photos, research center, museum of 20th Century political artifacts and memorabilia from her 33 years in Congress. Open year round. Mon. - Fri. 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Skowhegan History House:
Open June 16 to September 16. Tue. - Fri. 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Admission by donation. 1839 Greek Revival brick homestad with period furnishings.
