Maine’s events calendar is packed year-round with festivals, fairs, races, and celebrations that showcase the best of Maine culture, food, and outdoor life. From the Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland to the Common Ground Country Fair in Unity, Maine’s events are as diverse and authentic as the state itself.
Summer Events
Summer is Maine’s most event-packed season. The Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland every August is the state’s signature food event, drawing tens of thousands of visitors for five days of lobster, live music, and Maine celebration. The Yarmouth Clam Festival, the Machias Wild Blueberry Festival, and dozens of local fairs and carnivals fill the summer calendar from June through August.
Fall Events
Fall brings harvest festivals, apple picking events, and the spectacular foliage season. The Common Ground Country Fair in Unity is one of the oldest and most beloved agricultural fairs in New England, celebrating Maine’s farming and homesteading traditions. Fryeburg Fair in October is Maine’s largest agricultural fair and a classic New England autumn experience.
Winter & Spring Events
Winter events center on snow sports and Maine’s unique cold-weather traditions. The American Dog Derby in Rangeley and various sled dog races celebrate Maine’s mushing culture. The Kennebec River Race in the spring marks the return of whitewater season, and the Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race in Bangor every April draws paddlers from across the region.
