Sugarloaf Reggae Fest

April 11 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Sugarloaf Reggae Fest is a three-day summer music festival held on the slopes of Sugarloaf ski resort in Carrabassett Valley, Maine. The festival blends a family-friendly mountain atmosphere with live reggae performances from regional and national acts, drawing over 10,000 attendees each summer.

What to Expect at Sugarloaf Reggae Fest

The festival features more than 8 live bands across three days, performing on outdoor stages set against the backdrop of Sugarloaf Mountain. Beyond the music, attendees enjoy mountain views, food and craft vendors, art installations, and Sugarloaf’s extensive resort amenities — pool, restaurants, and walking trails accessible during the festival.

When and Where

The Sugarloaf Reggae Fest takes place each summer at Sugarloaf Mountain Resort in Carrabassett Valley, Maine — a scenic drive from Portland (2 hours), Boston (4 hours), or Augusta (90 minutes). Tickets are sold as multi-day passes; camping options are available on-site, with additional lodging at the resort and surrounding Carrabassett Valley properties.

Lodging for the Festival

Sugarloaf Resort offers slope-side lodging — hotel rooms, condos, and rental homes — with most properties walking distance from the festival grounds. Booking ahead is essential as accommodations fill up months in advance for the festival weekend. For more lodging options, see our Carrabassett Valley visitor guide.

What to Do in the Area

Carrabassett Valley sits at the heart of Maine’s western mountains and offers extensive outdoor recreation beyond the festival itself. Hiking and mountain biking on the Carrabassett trail system, swimming at nearby lakes, and exploring the surrounding villages of Kingfield, Stratton, and Eustis are all popular festival weekend activities. Rangeley is roughly an hour west and worth a day trip.
